MEGA delivers biogas upgrading units based on membrane gas separation method. Our solution is suitable for agriculture and municipal biogas stations, as well as for wastewater treatment gases.

Our RALEX® BU units cover capacities ranging from 25 m3 to 1000 m3 – from BioCNG production for one's own consumption to biomethane grid injection. By using our biogas separation technology which produces biomethane, an alternative to natural gas, you will contribute to improving the environment while increasing your company's profits.

Biomethane is used under the name BioCNG as fuel for cars, buses, trucks, tractors or is pressed into the gas network and burned in gas boilers.

RALEX® BU mobile units

MEGA offers its customers tailor-made capacity solutions. We design RALEX® BU biogas units for raw biogas treatment in the range from 25 m3 to 1000 m3raw biogas input and production from 12,7 Nm3/h to 500 Nm3/h of BioCNG. The unit operates in continuous mode, and the product is stored in high-pressure tank storages.

Units include a dispensing device with commercial measurement for direct vehicle filling. Units with a production capacity over 250 m3 also allow the injection of produced biomethane directly into the natural gas network using a compression station.

BioCNG for cities, Municipal wastewater treatment plant Brno - Modřice

The first bus in the Czech Republic powered by biogas gained from wastewater

The pilot project "BioCNG for cities", carried out together with the Circular Economy Institute, Brno municipal water system, and MemBrain, uses gas generated by wastewater treatment as a fuel for public transport. The project was awarded by Smart City Innovation institute.

The BioCNG BU-12 unit was connected to sludge gas in the BVK municipal wastewater treatment plant Modřice. The produced biomethane was refuelled into the DP Brno bus. 36 fillings were made with a total consumption of 1660 kg. The BioCNG unit ran 1068 hours without a single unplanned outage.

The transition from agricultural biogas to sludge gas passed off without any problems. On the contrary, the methane concentration was higher in the sludge gas, and the undesirable oxygen and nitrogen content was very low – therefore the biomethane concentration in the product was high.

Continuous production of biomethane for the collective farming in Pustějov

MEGA has installed a biomethane separation unit - BioCNG in a biogas plant of ZEMSPOL group, which operates two biogas plants working on the principle of wet fermentation and two-stage anaerobic fermentation. After analysis and laboratory tests, ZEMSPOL willingly provided facilities for the installation of the BioCNG pilot unit for a biomethane production volume of 6,3 Nm3/h at a methane content of 60 % by volume in the biogas input.

Operation parameters were continuously monitored. The BioCNG production unit was in continuous operation mode from spring 2015 to spring 2018, with the methane concentration in the product gas being higher than 95 vol. %. The operation was terminated according to the contractual conditions in July 2018 after incident-free continuous operation.
